A final word from Marlow

These are the last days.

When I look back on twenty-three years, I do not first see the necklaces.
I see Harry — my husband of forty-one years — who never once asked me to stop,
even on the evenings I worked long past supper.
My daughters Catherine and Margaret.
And little Sophie, my granddaughter — who used to climb up beside me as a small girl,
laying out each piece with both hands, as if it were something sacred.
She still does not know how much those evenings meant to me.

To every woman who ever wore one of these pieces —
thank you. From the bottom of a very full heart.
